Funny what solitude does to the psyche. One time a few years ago I was hunting and as it got near dusk I noticed that my watch said it was earlier than it seemed because of the time change. I started wondering if anyone told the deer and if it would affect their activity. Suddenly I started giggling sitting in my stand.

Maybe the humor gets lost in the translation but it was funny at the time.

Time is an interesting subject. It used to be here in the U.S everyone used local time. Some dude went up in the local clocktower and when the sun hit high noon he adjusted the clock to noon and that was how it was done. Then the Railroads came and they didn't like that. In fact they had their own time so they could operate safely. Later on congress set up the time zones across the country and standardized timekeeping.

But, time is relative and only humans carry watches and care about time. So, whatever they decide doesn't really matter except to us and I'd rather just stay with Standard Time.

Now that we are on the subject of unusual things we do to oppose nature. High noon is a great point. How about that calendar though. 12 months and 13 lunar cycles. As a person that live by the ocean, this makes no sense.

Leave it alone or quite interestingly enough, split the difference at 30 min...and leave it alone.

Now the idea of a solar noon time match sounds like a good idea but how would that work worldwide. There must be a standard that the world can use.
Britain changes their clocks a few weeks behind us so twice a year the time difference goes from 5 hours to 4 hours or 6 hours.

I have to keep that in mind and stay on top of it or else my 10am calls to my daughter in Bedfordshire start coming at unexpected times.

Of course all time zones throughout the world are all based off of Greenwich Meantime, just add or subtract some hours and give it a name (EST etc). Greenwich is in UK of course, damn important country you know.
Shame you Americans fought the war of independence and kicked us out, you would have been an important country by now

Being A Ham Radio Operator my Timestamps on the radio and logging programs are always in Zulu Time. And that is Greenwich Time no matter where I am or the person I'm talking with is located. So to me its either Zulu or MST for my clocks. Clocks adjusted for noon makes sense to me.

You know where it really get stupid to deal with is in a country with many time zones, Canada has 7, and some areas do not do the DST flip flop.

    Cool

Since I retired I don't care as much day happens when day happens

The wife however HATES the change, so does the Dog, in fact I think it effects Remi the most

Really don't much care about which time we keep but keep one

Just a bit of a Conundrum however, if we choose DST as the new time, doesn't it by default then become "Standard Time" LMFAO

Do we now call it Daylight Standard Savings Time ???

ps: This is the lazy dog right now saying "It is NOT time to wake up people, why are you getting up"

Someone satirically suggested splitting the daylight with a dark period in the middle of the work day when most workers and students are inside anyway. 'That way we could have sunlight in the mornings AND in the evenings'.

If there is only going to be one time it should be standard time. I find having solar noon and solar midnight at 1:00 AM and PM insulting. If you want to synchronize your work hours to sunlight, change your work hours, not the clocks. I suspect that if year round DST is adopted many businesses will start having later winter hours anyway because starting outside work when it's pitch black and freezing cold is ridiculous. This will result in having a less consistent version of what we're doing now with the time change, except the clocks will be wrong ALL year.
