It's nice to see other readers here. People are often amazed at all my books, which really aren't that many. When I tell them I want my own library they think I'm joking:nono:
I LOVE the library in Meet Joe Black. My dream is to have something similar. I want a large, beautiful study with comfy chairs, perfect lighting, and a big table in the middle to spread out on if I need to. I eventually want to accumulate all basic human knowledge in book form. It will cover everything from math to science to art, etc. Not to mention a good deal of brain candy;) My ultimate goal is to have enough stuff that no matter what I or my family needs, be it educational or otherwise, I've got it all right there. Plus I just like books:w
I collect crap! Lots and lots of crap! Me (and my family) have so much crap that I swear it would be much easier just to burn the house down and walk away than to have a garage sale and turn my crap into somebody else's goodies!!!:D
No, I actually collect a few guitars: A Yamaha steel string cutout acoustic, Yamaha classical acoustic, Schecter Omen 6 electric, and a Traveler Speedster electric.
I also have 4 computers, and a bunch of guns.
Oh if I were only rich...
RAD is new to me, but I am not new to compulsive collection of odd stuff. My oldest and most deeply rooted obsession is with fire arms. I think that most enthusiasts eventually migrate toward a sub-set of firearms; mine is main battle rifles of the world. K98s, GEWs, Mosin-Nagants, Arisakas, Enfields, Garands, 03A3s, Krags, Springfield trap doors, G3, FN-FAL, M14, etc. etc. etc.
I also use obsolete equipment on my small farm. It started out as a necessity due to cost but quickly turned into an obsession. Now I farm almost exclusively with equipment older than 1960... my Dad is worse, he farms with horses.
There was also the huge collection of obsolete computer equipment I just threw out (that collection was totally on accident).
Hehehe, this is fun to read.
Anyways, mine is wood. I love building stuff, so I see a piece of awesome wood, I get an idea for it, and BAM, I own another piece of wood lol. Padauk has been a recent favorite.
I have a few potential others that really haven't taken off yet, like watches and books. I fall into the group that would love to have a nice library at some point.
My other main AD is audio/headphones but that's slowed down quite a bit lately. It actually helps with my RAD and associated ADs since for now it's a lot less expensive than the audio was. Plus it takes up a lot less space in our small place which also makes the Mrs. happy. :tu
Well I collect pipes and pipe tobacco and all things pipe related.
So that gives me PAD and TAD bad. Plus I collect knives, nothing special, just regular pocket knives. Some guns, rifles, shotguns and pistols.
And tools, I love tools. Which is one of the things I love about straight razors and honing, I can buy lots of hones and assorted items. I consider a hone a tool.
:y
Just watches, mostly American pocketwatches and vintage seiko wristwatches.
