I backpack, contact juggle, read quite a bit, help my wife out with the scrapbooking, cook, and really, really want to start restoring razors and rescaling them. I also enjoy working on motorcycles, but money for motorcycles is currently in short supply
My main other hobby is brewing, and I also like sleeping (when I have the time and am not under a bout of insomnia)
I've added one since I originally posted.
fountain pens, can't say I have a collection yet, as I only have 3 with 1 on the way. My best pen is a Parker 51 vacumatic in Cedar Blue, which I found on ebay for a whole 35.00.
On the walking cane front, I've got the bug to make another one or two. The one I'm currently working on is a 36 inch staff with a gear shift knob for the grip. It was too plain for me, so I've been using it and thinking about what I could do to finish it up. My idea is a combination walking stick and fishing pole. Imagine walking down to the river bank, and the only thing you have to carry is your tackle. Tie on a hook and fish away with your cane lol. Plus it will be a good conversation starter.
I've also gotten the itch to get back into photography. I picked up a Yashica LM for 10.00 at a local Garage Sale, pictured below, and I'm itching to try it out. Before I lost the eye, I had a nice 35mm set-up, a Cannon A-1, with 70-210 zoom, a 2x extender, a 50 mm lens and a ton of filters. It was stolen out of my apartment, which is probably why I lost interest for so long.

My hobbies don't generally last as hobbies. I will start one with high interest and then settle into satisfaction somewhere and only continue it on as a practicality or occasional enjoyment. (As a reflective side note, I've discovered that hobbies can sneak up on me whereas the few passions I have were deliberate choices I made. And yet they continually change my life since they are part of me)
In the past at different times I have been particularly fascinated with astronomy, tennis, historical research, card tricks, coin collecting, golf, bowling, traveling, table tennis, Garfield junk, dice & card games, miniature electronics, magic squares, programming, strategy games of all sorts, puzzles- I just realized I am a nerd. I've always tried to deny it, but now I've admitted it. I'll have fun with a hobby for several months and then lost interest and find another. Oh yeah and now straight razors. It'll pass after awhile like the others and I will simply use a straight out of practicality with occasional flare-ups of research and/or purchases & trades.
I'll swap you some dust for some vintage gothic cobwebs I've been saving for Halloween, spider may or may not be included!:roflmao
Flint knapping is something Spike wants to know more about. He has loads of pieces collected ready. Any chance you could PM him please?:D
I used to do Archery many years ago, it is something I'd like to get back into one day. I guess my main hobby at the moment is digital editing, if you've seen the PCR thread you know what I mean.;)
