I thought the same thing, why does he also have to put on his "Batman" voice when changing into his suit? I thought Heath Ledger did a really good job. Was it good because it was Heath Ledger? Or was it more to do with the vision of the director/producers had for the actor? I dare say that Jack Nickelsons version of the joker STRONGLY inspired the version Heath Ledger played (ie voice).

The movie was really good, much better than "Batman Begins." Stronger story, better acting, better supporting cast.

btw.. the Tim Burton versions didn't have different actors playing batman... Micheal Keaton played only in the 2 that he directed.. the other Batmen were by different directors.

I enjoyed The Dark Night so much that I actually saw it twice over the weekend, something I haven't done since The Matrix.

well, he does it in the comics... Batman Begins was largely informed by Frank Miller's Batman:Year One, both in plot elements and in style, and in that comic, Bruce describes Batman's voice as being different, "a rasp from the pit of hell" or something equally poetic, can't remember off the top of my head.

at any rate, they were only trying to be faithful to the comics, and that is one thing I will never fault movie makers for doing. also note that Kevin Conroy did the same thing when voicing Batman/Bruce Wayne: switching from a menacing growl to a foppish jackass.

I think there was too much crammed into the 2 and a half hour long movie, which ended up detracting from it. But I must admit, Heath did an amazing job on The Joker - the lip smacking was particularly disturbing...

At first I was a little turned off by his "Batman voice", but then I thought about it. His regular voice is too smooth and nice. He's typically going after thugs, so yeah he's going to drop in looking scary and using a scary voice.

I loved the movie, though it was a bit of a journey. Heath was so perfect though...I wish he was like Tupac- not really dead:w

I hear Robin is supposed to be in the next one. Any ideas on who they'll tap and what kind of a role he'll play?

Turns out I was quite wrong. There have been several statements made by the director saying Robin will not be in any of his movies. Hmm...I guess that just leaves villain speculation.

I'm hoping for Bane. The real Bane from the comics, not that grunting ape in the 5th movie.

Saw this the Saturday after introduction. It is an amazing movie. Being a child of the 80's (born in 85) I will forever remember Michael Keaton as Batman and Nicholson as the Joker..
I think the new movies are MUCH better done, more believable, etc. I like that they've actually used the character Bruce Wayne... Burton's batman rarely delved into Bruce's character.

As far as changing his voice... as the "prince of Gotham", uber billionaire, it stands to reason that he might have a fairly recognizable voice to those in the city. Plus he continues to talk about "Batman" being basically a separate entity from himself.
