Excellent sicboater! the film was Der Schuh des Manitu - or Manitou's Shoe (the original version of the film was made in German by Michael Herbig and has been translated in English twice and featured in theatre twice) :bow
For more info see Der Schuh des Manitu - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia and for a scene from the film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8_rMMHI8Mk :roflmao
Foreign movies are hard :hmmm:
Fitting that the picture file name is "Nicetrycheater" when I went to look at it to see if it had the movie title lol. Damn, I want to get one!
This is a 6 hour movie!
More hints to come if this isn't enough...
The Best of Youth?
To the Man in the Carbon Fiber suit! Your turn at last Alex!
-Rob
I gotta say, your hint gave it away my friend! Ok, and the next movie is...
Is it Kurosawa's Yojimbo?
I'm pretty sure that is Chow Young Fat, Is it Hard Boiled?
Is it Sword of Doom?
Thank you Philadelph! I like those films with Tatsuya Nakadai; he is a very good actor in samurai roles - he was one of the leading actor of Akira Kurosawa if I remember well.
I'll stop the chitchat here for the next movie quiz:
is that Event Horizon?
It is indeed... your turn Jockeys!
no cheating and looking at the url!

shame on me....i cheated :-X
i wouldn't have gotten it any other way :-\
looks Dave McKean-ish, so i'm guessing "mirrormask"?
Really impressed chief :bow I have never heard of this film; what is it about? is it good?
Seeing the pictures I thought it was a film... kind of surrealistic - influenced by Dali... is it right?
I haven't seen the movie, but i'm a big fan of his graphic work, and Mirrormask is the only McKean movie I know... so I put 2 and 2 together :)
a new one, fairly easy I suppose, one of my all-time fav movies:

the film is Das Boot (I don't know the English name, only the German original one), isn't it?
I believe in English it is also known as 'Das Boot'. :tu
correct, I'm a lousy Quizmaster.
Ockham stop getting them all right! I have a great one.... :hmmm:
No, you are not a lousy Quizmaster... it is also one of my favourite war film - I have the special original long version (5 hours) DVD next to my desk...
Another one... here it comes
Sorry sidneykidney... I'll pass the next one... didn't want to monopolise the quiz :fim:
but I like film sooooo much :w
Come on guys, this one is not that difficult - far less than Manitou's Shoe. It is a mystery - drama film made in the 50ies... a Film Noir masterpiece... btw there is even a remastered edition DVD made in 2005 and still available at amazon.com
here is another picture to help you:
Is it D.O.A? If it is thats insanely unfair. That film came out 30 years before I was BORN!
Yes, you got it right sidneykidney! Excellent! :bow
And I know, I am evil :D... but the film is a real classic, get the National Film Preservation Board award in 2004 and a new remasterised DVD version was issued in 2005; I guess you were born at that time :roflmao
Your turn!
YAAAY!!! :y :y :y
OK here's a nice easy one.
No clues cos its too easy.

I know it! I know it!... oh man... I said I would pass this one
PM recieved Joel and you are absolutely correct. Although you gave the official original title native to its home country. The wider English speaking audience were given its shortened title.
So there is your clue. Its a foreign film (although I would say mainstream. Not obscure in any way, dont you agree Joel?)
all of you old farts with your old movies and foreign films! You make life hard for punk kids like me! Back in my day it was Lion King or nothing! and we LIKED IT THAT WAY! haha :-D
Who is Joel?
