Ouch, I feel that every time I look at it. I hope they were good friends or the payback may be worth watching too. One of the business agents in my ironworker's local did something similar to a guy in a bar who was bracing his stomach muscles for a punch to the abdomen. The BA asked him if he was ready and the guy grunted that he was and my BA hit him with a left hook to the jaw, knocked him cold, and left the bar. Really did happen, circa 1972.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

The payback would be worth watching especially if they're good friends. I don't know about you but if one of my friends pulled that on me I'd be as creative as possible in getting him back at least two-fold.

I've watched it over and over. Was it utter and complete incompetence or delibeerate?

From his reaction, I lean toward the former.
