That's like asking if Dutch beer is all that different from German beer (or English beer to American beer)!
Yes, I think that there is a distinct regional flavour.

Good to see this thread!
I'm the only one in my house or extended family that likes Dutch licorice. For those in the states this is a good source. My favorite is the "Drop 2000" which has a sweet, herbal flavor.
As much as I've wanted to like them... the salty ones are still a "challenge".
i love licorice but have never tried the dutch stuff. that will have to be the next thing i try, any recomendations on what kinds to try and where to get it?. i have noticed that when it comes to licorice i have never met anyone who just "kinda" likes it, it seems that you either love it or you hate it, that is just what i seem to have notced

Off course I only had the dutch licorice (drop over here) so I wont comment on the German stuff...
I like the double salt soft ones best..I hate the sweet hard "munt drop" they stick between my molars..
I used to work for an american company in Florida and when we had a meeting over there we used to bring some over in different flavours. Some people didn't really expect the bitter licorice:eek:...
Some liked it and some realy didnt:rolleyes:

Does it count if even though I haven't done it in a long time, I enjoy chewing on an actual licorice stick? The twig.
