Default TV warranty worked out great

so i bought a Tube style 32" Toshiba about 2 years ago as the 32" flat screens were literally $1600 (i priced them out at the time) so i though for $400 this one would do until the prices went down and i was a bit more settled on where i was living.
so about a month ago the picture started getting darker, but it was a gradual progression and when i first turned the TV on it was fine, until about 5 mins in when things got dark. i didn't see this as a good thing so (having forgot that i bought the 4 year warranty) i went back to Leons and asked a sales guy who they got to fix their TVs. he asked if i had a warranty, i said i didn't know, he checked and sure enough i was slightly embarrassed but very happy. so i guy came out to check things out and it didn't look good.

so here is what i get. i get the full $400 dollars in store credit, which i put towards a 32" LG LCD that was on sale for $599. i also got the extended warranty for $79 as it worked out once so why not. in the end i spent $316 and have a new LCD on the way. the only thing i am out is my $60 extended warranty on the tube TV.

Yes this is a thread about me bragging. but this is awsome. this is the absolute first time a warranty has ever worked out in my favour. i have to tell somebody.

so has anybody else had luck with warranties?

I used to think warranties were a rip off but in the last few years with kitchen appliances I have bought them and used every one. There was the stove that would have cost over a grand to fix the first time and over $300 the second and the washer that would have cost almost $200 and the ice maker in the refrig that would have cost about $200 and the dishwasher that would have cost a couple hundred. They don't make em like they used to.

I had an old version of the Masterlock Python that messed up on me. I called Masterlock up and they sent me the new one, no questions asked. It's not nearly as exciting as a TV, but I was happy

EDIT: I've also been extremely glad I got the extended warranty on my new Caliber. There have been a couple of things that needed taking care of and would have cost me quite a bit of money (and time if I fixed it myself). Instead, all I've had to do is drop it at the dealer, point, and make sad faces. It's magically fixed for free in a few hours. Totally worth every penny.
