    Angry I went to Japan...

My suitcase, with razor, strop, and assundry went to Seattle instead!

Apparently we parted ways in Chicago...

The razor was a restored $10 antique store find.

The brush, my homemade creation for $17

The strop is the priciest piece of equipment I packed: $45

So, I wasn't too concerned about loss of irreplaceable itrems. The problem is that two+ days of good shaving have been lost! The trip over here alone is 24 hours long, and I had been looking forward to a shave to unwind and re-charge...no dice.

I'm staying at a Hyatt Regency and it has this great no-fog mirror! Take a steaming hot shower and that thing has a square of mirror that just will not fog up. I believe it has hot water pipes running behind there or something....I want one in my house.

Anyhow. All for naught, as my razor, etc. will not arrive until tomorrow evening.

The good news is I haven't shaved since Saturday night, so I have some significant underbrush to hack away at as soon as my stuff arrives!

I almost gave in to temptation to get a twinblade Feather disposable (something you don't see Stateside...)so I could at least look presentable at work tomorrow. But then I'd miss out on the glorious feel of peeling back a few days growth that only a straight can bring.

Yep. I only travel with a feather. No stropping or strop maintenance, No emotional attachment to the razor, no humidity issues...
You just need to be just that bit more careful, because they are much less forgiving (not at all) than a real straight.

Mirrors can get a special backing now, rather pricey, but it prevents the fogging up some how. You can buy the stuff and attach it yourself, to an old mirror.
Yes, another trip. I'm down in Fukuoka this time.

If you need a loaner, I can send you a razor and strop to use. Just chuck me a PM with your details. Don't worry about the cost of shipping, it won't be very much, or worth the effort of paypalling or whatever.
    Thanks for the offer!

    No need though...

I will also say theI give the Hyatt Regency Fukuoka 5 stars!

The basis for this stellar rating:

    #1- that no-fog mirror, it's pure class!

#2- the toilet seat is heated! Quite a treat on a cool December eve...
