Eurovision 2009 FTW

For some reason i'm already looking forward to the Eurovision song contest this year. And its not because the UK entry is any good. Cos its not. It sucks.

The general gist is everybody sings a song and then votes for whichever country they want to improve foreign relations with.

No folks, the reason I am looking forward to the contest this year is because I love the Netherlands song and am tipping it to win the contest:

Its the best song i've heard in the contest so far. Plus one of the trio looks like Roger Federer which is very funny.

I've taken the time to look thru them all for you folks. Other good songs to check out in my opinion would be from:

Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, and Switzerland

Songs that might do well amongst other european countries include:

Montenegro, Norway, Greece and Finland

And on a last note, Miss Turkey shakes it like Shakira and has the looks of J-Lo. She is HOT.

The UK entry sucks, going with a ballad, eewwww.:gth Apparently the UK's popularity has nosedived due to the fact we don't take the contest seriously and have hurt the feelings of other voting nations.:cry: Shame on us.:(

Of course you could argue that other nations take the contest far, far too seriously.:w All I know is it just won't be the same without Wogan heading up the commentary, but I have high hopes for Graham Norton.:rock:

The dutch entry is out. They're not in the finals I just heard yesterday.

Clearly the dutch entry was TOO good and sounded like a proper song. Clearly that is the reason it failed.

I just watched the Toppers (the Dutch entry) on the bbc site.... they must have a combined age of 150.

Up to this point, there's is the only entry I've seen. Without Wogan, there won't be the thinly disguised snide comedy factor. And what's all this semi final malarkey? When did they start doing that?

Just saw the Estonian offering. She was gorgeous, didn't notice the song...

Am watching the build up to the results just now. Graham Nortons commentary is quite funny. Looking forward to the political voting.

And Miss Turkey is hot!

I couldn't tempt Spike to watch it but saw on the news this morning we made 5th, so somebody still loves us, yay!:w:rofl2:

Anyway we were in bed for just after 10pm, Squid had a very loud and unsettled day, big sister was here too and we were knackerd waaaaaaaay before we turned in.:D

5th is very respectable considering last year it was last! And Mr Norton did a respectable job of filling Mr Wogans shoes.

I doubt it highly. I still don't understand why "proper" artists never get into these things. We've a ton of musical talent in the netherlands...but it never enters into the songfestival. I'm pretty sure it's the same in other countries.

I could be wrong but I think that the rules stipulate that established artists are not allowed to enter the competition as groups or singers. They can however WRITE songs. Although I may be wrong.

You're probably wrong because the dutch entry was a group of established singers.

Gotta love the Eurovision SC. Shame Wogan retired - the people who replaced him here in Aus are barely capable of stringing two words together.
