I live by rule number 1:
Rule number 1 when posting anything on the net (or via email):
Do not write anything down that you wouldn't want your partner, kids, family, employer, banker, district attorney, worst enemy or anyone else to find out.
There are no specific topics that I avoid, though I will always try to choose my words in a reasoned manner. I am usually a moderate centrist on most issues so it's not that hard for me to avoid punch line arguments.
Anyway... breastfeeding???? What's so controversial about that?
I avoid knowing just what the @!#K is in a woman's purse. no thanks
I don't think there are any for me. Perhaps the more controversial the better, presenting a challanging argument is difficult - it's an important skill to have (for me anyway) - a good example might be the recent free will/determinism thing.
Infact, I quite often take a contrary view just to learn something.
I'm an opinionated person, I enjoy a good debate, I find it very difficult to bow out of them - not always a good thing but I accept that as part of who I am.
I don't activly seek out bad grammar, because mine isn't so hot, but if it's appropriate I'm not above it either.
If there are any subjects where you are convinced your opinion is the only correct one, and you need to have the last word when discussing it, then the Intarweb is a bad place to talk about it. I don't always remind myself of this in time. :ziplip:
Also there are some topics that would have the authorities start monitoring you just for mentioning them, so I won't! :fim:
nope. there's nothing that I think is off limits, discussion-wise. there are however, a lot of things the moderators here won't tolerate.
for those things, a subset of SRP can be found here:

discussing such things.
Personal and family stuff. This is no bodies business, and I have too much self respect to discuss this in a public forum. The same goes for others personal stuff. Those who do not have the self respect to keep this where it belongs - in private - are the bane of my existence.
Celebrities of any type - see above, the world would be a much better place if all of these people (and I use the word people very loosely here) would just go away.
The Dreyfus Affair.
I like a gentlemanly discussion of hot topics. I find it deepens my understanding of them, or at least deepens my understanding of some people's positions.
As for your list...1, 2, and 3...I've been on parenting boards, and will no longer go there due to the level of insanity about those three topics. My wife CRIED after reading some of those breastfeedig arguments.
I was likened to a concentration camp doctor for my views on circumcision, and the immunization threads range from reasonable and well thought out to the most insane level of psychotic conspiracy idiocy I have ever been exposed to. And I was married to a psychotic conspiracy theorist at one point!
