Mozilla Firefox Crashing frequently ?
Anyone else having their Firefox browser crashing often? It has been happening with mine frequently the past week or more. I think it may have something to do with my running NoScript but I'm not sure what is going on. It is very annoying. If it is a bug I hope they fix it soon. Other than that it may be my PC. I'm running Kubuntu OS.

No I haven't. I have been happy with it for so long that I have a hard time imagining life without it. I may need to do a fresh install of the Kubuntu. They recently updated to a newer version and a lot of things changed in it. Maybe the bugs aren't worked out yet or there may have been a glich in my update.

Thanked: 1903A fresh install is almost never needed. After all, it's Linux, not Windows. And certainly for Firefox, you don't need to do that. What you might want to try, though, is run either of the following commands, and create a new profile. See if the problem persists. If not, there is a problem with your current profile:
Code:-ProfileManager Start with ProfileManager. -safe-mode Disables extensions and themes for this session. -g or --debug Start within /usr/bin/gdb (Must be first)
Good luck.

Thanked: 8I am running Fedora Core 8 and the latest Firefox. My Firefox also crashes frequently. I started using Opera. It crashes, but less often. I do not know if it is the browsers or the ext3 file system. I was thinking about switching back to ext2.
I also use Noscript. I was wondering if I should disable it and see what happens.

Thanked: 278Fine here with NoScript and AdBlock Plus running. Firefox 3.0.10 under XP.
SRP website can be slow at times, but it's about the only site where I permanently allow ads and disable NoScript.

I've been opening in a terminal with the command firefox - g . This leaves a record of the crash. I had one yesterday which was a freeze up and left more than I can put in a post.
This morning my browser crashed three times in an hour and each time the terminal readout was Segmentation fault . On the last crash a window popped up asking me to send a report to [email protected]. It read, "The application Plasma Workspace (plasma) crashed and caused the signal 11 (SIGSEGV)"
Any thoughts ?Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Thanked: 1903Two: Plasma is broken, or your RAM is.
- Switch to Gnome for a change, and see if the problem persists.
- Before you go to bed, boot into memtest86+, and let it run.
Good luck.
