Default Textspeak, poor grammar and a general grump.

Maybe i'm just getting to be an old man, whatever. But more and more these days i'm seeing things written and thinking 'ouch! thats just WRONG!' I mean I will be the first to admit that my grammar is far from as it should be. When I see some spelling mistakes its just so jarring on my eyes... like 'there' where it should be 'their' or 'they're'. That one niggles me.

Of course there are times when textspeak seems perfectly fine to me. If i'm chatting to someone on msn then i'm happy to read and write 'ttyl', 'wb', 'ty' and 'thnx'. I might even write them in a text message but the notion of saying them 'IRL' is just hideous to me!

Now I turn 30 next week so likely this is the first sign of me becoming a grumpy old man. But basic spelling seems to be going out the window. I wish I had been taught English grammar while I was at school. These days however I question whether kids are taught English at all!

Does this bug you lot too? Is it me? Do you have some examples that **** you off as much as they do me?

PS. I have just noticed Bruno has added the perfect smiley to end this post on:
