I did also notice at one point towards the end of the film he strops the razor with the edge leading, not the spine. And we all know that would result in handfuls of shredded leather..!

Of course, I had to point this out to everyone present! :D Guess that makes me a straight razor shaver..!

Not to hijack the thread, but I had a similar experience with the movie "Frequency". (I'm a ham radio operator) I wound up pointing out all the things that were done wrong.

I saw a movie this week called Laddy Chatterly which was set in the 1920s in which the rich master of the mansion has a private barber who shaves him. I watched her technique rather closely and found only one thing wrong - she did not strop before the shave. Her technique was excellent and only slightly different from my own technique.

I guess it makes you a straight razor shaver when you watch a movie closely for the shaving technique and forget about the rest of the movie.

Ok, this one is from personal experience:

...if you're shaving at the sink in a men's locker room and suddenly an old guy yells "Good God, a straight man!"

(I figure it might have made a few guys not within line of sight to wonder a little.)
