Default Bob Dylan (He's not dead)

The guy's music and songwriting has affected me deeply since I was 18 and off on my own for the first time and the words "If you ain't got nuthin, you've got nuthin to lose" meant something real to me.

My wife simply can't get past his voice to even appreciate his poetry although she reluctantly admits she appreciates the song Tangled Up in Blue.

I have an affinity for earlier Dylan albums with Blood on the Tracks and Blonde on Blonde probably being my favorite.

Anyone else a Dylan fan? Or, does he grate on anyone else like he does my wife? She has issues with Neil Young for the same reason, the voice. Yet, curiously, she enjoys The Replacements and Paul Westerberg's raspy trashed growling.

Bummer, I didn't stop to think I should have titled this post: "Bob Dylan (He's not dead). Sorry to scare anyone. If a mod can change this title, please feel free.

I was afraid this was going to be another Celebrity Death post....

Dodged a bullet there. Dylan is the man.

My father loves him! I think he is quite the wordsmith but says little to me.

He's a great songwriter, but unless he's doing blues or Creole, I can't listen to him. I enjoy listening to his songs performed by others though. My favorite song of his is actually a new one called Beyond Here Lies Nothin':

YouTube - Bob Dylan - Beyond Here Lies Nothin' - Together Through Life

I can't say any of them really "speak" to me. I like to enjoy my music and have fun rather than have an anthem or a message. It may be a generational thing, who knows.

I think he's great! I recently heard this song on the movie 'Watchmen'

    Definitely a meaningful song.

I think his poetry is.... psychotropically inspired, if you get my drift.... but not bad at all. I even like a lot of it.

But his voice...blech....sounds like a sick, distressed chicken...
