Here is an example of what people in other countries don't have to contend with due to a 'free market' health care system run by Wall Street types. I didn't want this buried in that other thread so here it is for your viewing pleasure. Keep some Kleenex handy if you've to a heart.

Such a sad story. To have to pay for your own health and insurance provision is one thing... to have to battle private businesses with their full body of resources dedicated to finding that loophole/error/clause on which to cancel (read: cheat you out of) your treatment despite paying your premiums for years... well, that's why IMO health provision should never be aligned with profit motive.

If you listen closely to what the lady said--she DID purchase health insurance (Blue Cross). Her treatment was denied because of a prior "acne" diagnosis. Also, to baselessly assert her cancer was caused by her spending money on "junk" is a bit reprehensible, IMO.

I never said her cancer was caused by that, just probably was caused by it.
Most cancer is caused by voluntary consumptiuon of toxic materials, the rest which is probably less is caused by involuntary consumption of toxic materials like exhaust fumes.
Obviously all cancers are going to be a mix of both to some degree but its mainly people putting stuff into their own bodies for many years that causes cancer.
The reason her treatment was so expensive was becuase she chose the chemotherapy option. Chemotherapy is like offering to fix someones broken leg with a sledgehammer.
The story is terrible about how the insurance company treated her claim, although the method of treatment and story around how people aquire cancer was what I was commenting on.
I agree with this, but you could not just implement it in the healthcare industry it would have to be voluntarily implemented throughout society by all people for this to function correctly. Provision of everything should not be aligned with profit motive.Quote:

This provison over profit idea is correct, but it would daisy chain right through every service until you would need all services to be "provison over profit". And for that to work everyone would have to quit any use of energy that is wasteful, because that would be the optimum system, and for an optimum system to function you cannot have waste.
And if everyone was eating super healthy which you would require for this system to function then there would be far less need for healthcare through hospitals and curative medicine, because most things would be prevented...
