I am getting married in 12 days. But, my fiances current health insurance expires next week.
Under HIPAA, this one week lapse should not count towards any kind of "pre-existing" clause in the future right?
I'm wondering if we should get married by the justice ahead of the wedding just to make sure everything is covered.

I would call the insurance company that she will be under once you two get married and ask them.
But according to the info you quoted, as long as she had her insurance for a year, without a lapse of more than 63 days, it sounds like it should be ok.
I would call to check anyway. And if possible, get them to send it to you in an email, or letter, so that you have it in writing...again, can't be too careful...insurance companies can be jerks sometimes :)

Every state can be different in the answer to this question I believe. If worse comes to worse, a lot of times you can purchase a temporary plan for the amount of time that your coverage will lapse.
