I consider myself a conservative, but don't know of a national party that properly represents this. Probably somewhere along the lines of Libertarian, but with a few caveats.
Basically my theory is that the government should interfere as little as reasonably possible to maintain a country.
Primary things it's acceptable for the government to influence are
1)defense
2)infrastructure
3)international relations
On popular hot topics
1) Gun control- The constitution is pretty clear here. "shall not be infringed" really only has one interpretation
2)Abortion- equals murder, we already have laws covering that
3)taxes- It's my money, not the governments
I do agree with the principle of small governments, but, should not the government also take care of creating some kind of "level playing field" for all of its citizens ?
-> Everyone who works hard should be able to make a decent living
-> Every child should be able to get a good and affordable education
-> Everyone should be able to have access to affordable healthcare
-> ... etc etc
If the government doesn't take care of this, who will ??

I can only say one thing about that: if MY daughter were to be raped and she would be pregnant because of it, there is NO-one except her who would decide on whether to abort or not. She would have my support WHATEVER she decides.
So, the solution is that it's ok to kill a baby. What about the rapist? Of course the situation which you describe only exists in the real world in a fraction of less than one percent of pregnancies. But when it's not due to rape then it's also still ok to kill a baby, so as not to inconvenience a selfish irresponsible person?
Her body, her choice.
Real simple, you don't want anyone telling you what you can or can't do why should you get the right to tell her what she can and can't do?
