That pretty much settles it for me. But, if you have some, I'd gladly hear it. I'm not saying I believe he didn't exist, but that there isn't anything substantial enough to point me to the contrary.
I should mention that the results of this poll
will be largely representative and consistent with the findings of this chart.
Off topic:
My roommate in college was a religious studies major. He was Christian when he started and Christian when he left, but it was interesting to see first hand his Christian classmates' loss-of-faith during the program.
The more they studied and did historical research and the more papers they wrote backed by evidence they needed to find, the more uncomfortable they became with their faith. Many lost faith completely; many felt they needed to stop their studies to maintain their relationship with their god.
There were constant sighs when assignments and arguments "backed their faith in a corner" so to speak. Many discrepancies between individual belief and actual history were solved by going through the motions, taking for fact what they wanted and dismissing the rest.
Remarkably, a small percentage found their faith strengthened. Take from it what you will.
Personally? I think the bible belongs in the "Fiction" section. But if it can escape that genre, it should at least have a disclaimer sticker slapped on the cover.
Merry Christmas everyone.
