hey warbler i'm a huge fan i still want to be a jedi, but i've had it with lucas....he didn't listen to anyone about 1.2.3 episodes...and nothing he will ever do woll be as good as empire strikes back, it was dark and full plotted..perfect movie for me! i have and love bluray but i refuse to give this man anymore money of mine! some of the clone wars cartoons are better than episodes 1.2.3....he also is a marketing genious he waits until the last second then releases the trilogy on vhs, then dvd and soon or later he will hit bluray..but it will be a long while..it's all about timing and money for mr THX! it also means that if it goes HD Bluray he has to **** with is more and ruin it even more...!

    hope i'm wrong but i won't be

I sympathize with you and Lucas will not get a dime of my money until he does justice to the OOT(Original Original Trilogy)

When I was 12 years old I saw the original Star Wars 12-13 times in the theater.

It was the coolest thing ever!

Now, there have been alot of complaints about the crap "sequels" 1, 2, 3. But in reality, if you watch the original Star Wars, it is pretty much a lousey movie as well! Perfect for a 12 year old, maybe, but really lacking any sort of movie quality.

So, I would say that I'm a reformed Star Wars fan.

I liked all the episodes. What I don't like is the cynical way in which Lucas plays the market. Releasing this version, that version, this cut, that cut, with bonus, without bonus, not on the latest format until very late into the game, etc. He releases crap versions first, then ups the game gradually so that people buy the same damn thing several times over.

For that reason, I still have the old versions on VHS (even though I don't have a player anymore!) and I won't be buying a new set until the whole shebang is out on BluRay mastered from the originals.

To be honest, ever since I got my wife that Princess Leia slave Bikini I find I have very little time for watching movies any more.

Good luck with your petition though.

Kinda like Apple in that respect no? "Heres the iPhone! Buy it, its brilliant!"

3 months later "Heres the iPhone 3G, new and improved! Buy it, it'll never get any better than this!"

Then another 9 months pass... "Heres the iPhone 3Gi, the best version yet! Buy it, it will get no better..!"

Hmm... I notice a pattern forming!

Back on topic, I love Star Wars! But I'm not that fussed about getting HD versions, mainly coz I dont have an HD TV or player!

I have the original 3 on VHS, plus 1/2/3 on DVD and thats Ok for me.

    THANK YOU!
I am a huge Star Wars fan and every other fan I know hates my opinion that it is horribly written cheesy dialog placed into a rudimentary storyline taken from hundreds of other sources. It is bad. But it is also beautiful and wonderful. You sir are tip top in my book.

I can't say I agree with you. But, that is how I would describe the new trilogy.

I don't know about you, but he's already gotten plenty of my dimes.

    · Original VHS
    · Remastered audio VHS
    · Theater re-release
    · DVD box set

I suspect that BRD has enough storage space to allow you can choose on each disc whether to watch the original version or the CG-enhanced version. Of course, he'll probably opt to release the CG version as a set and then release the originals a few years later so that we wind up buying both.
