Another phrase that has crept into the corporate world that I hate is.
It is what it is. (usually used when cutting your pay or piling more work on you)
Translation:
We are going to screw you over and there's nothing you can do about it.

When I hear someone say "I'm just sayin..." I want to punch them in the throat.
Take a look at your post in this thread: http://straightrazorpalace.com/conve...all-ninja.html
ShavedZombie, please realize I am not picking on you... We all use the words that bother us sometimes. This just made me laugh, hopefully you can see the humor in it....
Other corporate BS words:
Buy in - we need to get buy in from XYZ before we move forward...
Culture - corporate culture, culture of change, workplace culture, yogurt culture...
I'm having "issues" with the neighbor..........
Nope, I'm having PROBLEMS with the neighbor.
That word drives me up the wall. Issues just sound so temporary... The dang neighbor has not been temporary!!!!
No offense taken... Wow.. I did not see that coming, and you are completely right...
however, I'd like to say that I have just -unintentionally- proven my own point :P.
I'd also like to say that there is a difference based on context, but that would make me a hypocrite... I'm naturally inclined to try to defend myself in that scenario, but you're right. Good catch there, HNSB, I can -grudgingly :p - see the humor in it.
The word "basically" really irritates me. For me, this began in 10th grade when my AP US History teacher shared with us words and phrases that bothered him. Some I agreed with, others I did not. I agreed, and still agree, with his dislike of the word basically. If you are going to say basically, it should be followed by a complete, concise description. But I'm not sure that a description can be complete and concise, and I find that people often begin long winded rants with the word "basically." If they were to eliminate the word "basically," I would have one less word and one less contradiction to listen to.
"Time period" also rubs me the wrong way, because it is redundant. (In case you didn't guess, this was also brought to my attention by my AP US teacher.)
I was about to go on somewhat unrelated rant, so I'll cut it off there.
I realize Jockeys already mentioned the word "paradigm", but the overuse/misuse of that word has caused me to quit listening whenever I hear it.
