what does your username mean?
I've seen some interesting usernames on this forum. I was just wondering what some of them meant; no one in particular, but rather everyone.
Mine is the name of a book written by my great grandfather. My grandmother says it is scottish gaelic for the words fire and ice combined.
What does your username mean?
Gentlemen:
My name does not mean anything. Actually, Obie is my nickname. My full name is Obelit. The original spelling of it is Uballit. I have told this story before at SRP:
I am a full-blooded Assyrian, named after Ashur-Uballit I (1363-1328 B.C.), one of the greatest kings of the ancient Assyrian empire. The Assyrian empire, which covered much of the present-Iraq, parts of the present-day Iran and Turkey, fell in 612 B.C. to the Medes and the Babylonians.
Subsequently, the Assyrian people scattered throughout the Middle East and the rest of the world, holding onto their national identity and roots. In ancient days, they were one of the first of the indigenous groups in the Middle East to convert to Christianity.
So here I am. At Senn High School in Chicago, my teachers had a difficult time pronouncing my full name Obelit. One day a teacher called me Obie and the name stuck. I don't much care for the name Obie, but am stuck with it. So just as well it doesn't mean anything.
Regards,
Obie
