UK employment opportunities?

So I'm studying for a BMus honours degree at the moment, and I'm predicted a 1:1, distinction possible. But I really don't want to embark on music as a career. Arrogance aside, I'm very good at it, but to embark on a career in it is to admit a love of it that will be lifelong and obsessive - this is something that I don't have.

So recently I've been searching on websites for info on being employed as basically anything but a musician, with the background of having a 1:1 honours degree plus semi-decent high school grades (Standard grades - 1s in music, biology, maths, french, english. 2s in art and history. Highers - As in English, Music, French. Bs in Biology and Maths. Didn't do advanced highers as I left at the end of 5th year).

So far I've even applied (semi-seriously) for a trainee air traffic controller post(which I'll probably get rejected for anyway). Thing is, I'd love to study another degree, but in the current economic climate this is not something that's a financially viable option - and my parents are far from being able to support me on the course of a second degree.

So, has anyone from the uk got any ideas re jobs for graduates with that kinda background?
Or even jobs for people with those marks, without the degree.
When I say jobs I mean jobs, but also like trainee courses like the one aforementioned.

Just some friendly advice, unless you enjoy stress and loads of it don't be an air traffic controller. It's a real pressure cooker.

Air traffic control is going to be my first port of call when I leave uni. If you get a chance, go and look at the local one to you, seriously interesting stuff. It doesn't make a jot of difference about your degree though, if you have the aptitude for it, you have the aptitude for it. That's all they care about.

Sounds like you're not too sure, have you thought about taking a year out? Plenty of cheap ways to see the world these days if you're willing to work for your keep. Looks good on the CV as well, of course.

Yeah, I think I might go sneak a peek. Ah aptitude, wonderful stuff - I just need to get a check up on my eyesight to doublecheck I'm actually able to take the job if I'm accepted.

Seeing the world is something I've actually done loads of through music - last christmas I played concerts in China and Holland, and for other events I've gone to Germany, Lichetenstein, Japan etcetcetc

I'm kinda addicted to work or something. Like when I've not been working for a while I feel totally horrible, it's something I crave, so I'm not sure if I could deal with taking a gap year.

I was trained for ATC while I was in the military. You have to be seriously good at multi-tasking.

Be a Security Guard in a shopping centre.:)

Have you thought of a postgrad degree such as a PGD or a masters? It may be possible for you to transfer to a different carreer path.

Yeah I was thinking about that, and there are some folk from my institution who have done that into say, law.

But I've been researching about the procedures for this, and I actually can't find anything where you can go take a masters in something else. Going to carry on looking though.

There are so many people leaving university in the UK with degrees in the arts and humanities that many will need to retrain at some point to get a well paid job.
There is always going to be a shortage of good people to fill positions in engineering and construction.
