Thanked: 3795I'm going to be the curmudgeon here. I hate Facebook. I don't Tweet. I don't chat. To each their own but I'd like to see the "conversation" remain in one place--here. Every one of these other venues dilutes what goes on here. Quite often someone here mentions something discussed in the chat, and my immediate thought is, why couldn't it have been done here where everyone could be involved?
I know. I know. To each their own!
Anyway, if these other venues help some others get in on the fun, then that's just fine.

As an IT professional I need to understand all things IT and that includes Facebook and Twitter even if I am not an avid user of them myself. I must say I understand why people like these two web sites, however there is absolutely nothing new about Twitter. The new part is the fact that there is one central location for discussing anything and everything. There are other conversation sites such as this one but never before has there been a site for anything and everything. Facebook, even though I don't have any need for it I do understand why people like it, a place to create a website about me and that is new. So while I don't user either much I do understand why people like them, I do twitter occasionally, it makes finding discussion sites easier.

Thanked: 30One of the reasons I checked out the Facebook page for Straight Razor Place was because I was sent an invitation from Lynn personally to check it out. Also there is not a " Big Brother " watching what you say and censoring out comments or other things

Change can be a difficult thing. My mom still refuses to go online to the internet, to email, to have anything to do with it!
The fact is that Facebook is happening, that every business is catching on to the fact that if you are not using Facebook and twit, then you are behind the times. The audience is HUGE. What will end up happening is the audience for Straightrazorplace will not shrink, it will grow.
The Straightrazorplace part of Facebook is for announcements, not so much for discussion, but to share with other people that you know on Facebook. People from your family, your work, your other interests.
I do not use twit, but I do regularly visit Facebook to keep current with family and friends.
You can use Facebook, or not use it, you will not really miss much as far as straightrazorshaving is concerned, but you may miss out on what is happening around you.

True, no big brother or anything. Just a load of identity fraudsters trying to get hold of your personal information.
