This old B&W photo caught my eye on the bay a while ago, I finally purchased it. It still had the black album paper stuck to the back. I digitized it, so maybe the moment will last forever.
Due to the setting, a young girl dressed nicely, standing with a workshop in the background, I call it "A Father's Pride". It was the sharpening wheel in front of the shop that caught my eye the first time.

John that may a fruit drying shed in the backround,as a boy we cut apricots all summer,they always had a wheel like that to sharpen our cot knives in the morning,the cots would than be put in the shed where they burned sulpur to dry them,got 50 cents a tray,3x8 ft, did 3 per day.
Was a rich Kid in the mid 50s:)
Thank you for the education,,,,,when I enlarge the photo, the long grass behind her right arm is actually curls of barbed wire around the workshop,,,dad wanted the keep something out.
All of my uncles had those foot powered stones on their farms. As I remember, they were a pretty low grit.
