I was visiting an antique mall this afternoon, no shaving goodies to be found, but I like to look through the piles of old photos that people leave behind. Of all that I looked through, over 400 +, this one caught my eye.
It had written on it, "March 31, 1945 at Villa Madrid, Pittsburg, PA."

Do you think this was a wedding reception? The other two girls appear to be wearing the exact same outfit.

I stopped being lazy for a minute and scanned few pics from my great grandfathers albums.
Winners or 'winners' of 1918 war. Finnish army, German troops and Finnish jaegers/white guards marching at the victory parade in my home town after winning the Finnish civil war of 1918. Finns who served at the German army during ww1 were called jaegers/white guards. My great grandfather was one of them.

Here's few jaegers in front of main building of their home base in Turku. It is former Russian Navy hospital from the times of Russian occupation 1809-1917 (the era is called as a 'long lasting hatred' here).

Interesting or not. When i served in the army, i did spend few years at the very same base. Here's the building few years ago. Nowadays 'conquered' by the Finnish Navy.

Bearing in mind that levity is the essence of sanity and a few other things, I present the following vintage photo:
Here is a 1930s photo of my great aunt Elsie's estranged (strange) husband, Rudolf ("Take no prisoners") Salamanca on vacation in sunny Florida. Family legend has it that he always insisted on getting his money's worth wherever he went. He eventually died from a bite by a 2 inch long poisonous South American miniature spotted salamander that escaped from a Nova Scotia reptile zoo. Naturally he was buried wearing his custom made alligator shoes and wallet. Aunt Elsie had the presence of mind to remove the cash from the wallet the night before the funeral. She was a stickler for details.
