My wife taught at a school in Quesnel B.C. from the late 1960s into the '70s. Two schoolkids froze to death at the roadside waiting for the bus. They made a rule that the kids didn't attend school at -25deg or lower, though the staff had to go in.Quote:

You're kidding, right? You think that just because the jet stream takes a dip into the continental US for a few days and makes things chilly, that's relevant to the issue? for the last two weeks here in Scotland we've had warmed up snow from russia supposedly, and it still managed between -15 to -20 degrees Celsius. 6 inches of snow on the central belt. Buggered up the buses and trains and I had some really interesting bicycle riding as well :)
I think it might be something to do with global warming, but i'm also aware its all to easy to blame it on Global warming, it may be partly responsible but I dont think its entirely to blame.

All I know is that its bloody cold here in London as well, with record snow fall forcast for the weekend.
The way I think of this whole climate change thing is this: The earth is, on a cosmic scale, a blob of molten rock covered in a thin layer of solid rock and water, surrounded by a layer of gases, hurtling through a vacuum at 18,000mph whilst being heated by a giant nuclear reactor. Can anyone tell me how we could possibly keep the temperature constant in that scenario?
Theres always been climate change and there always will be. The last ice age wasnt caused by people having 4x4's, it was just one of those things brought about by the fact that the only constant thing in nature is that there are no constants.
Just because no-one has found the fossilised remains of a prehistoric 4X4 it doesn't mean that there weren't any.Quote:
