RIP James Arness
As you can tell by my avatar, I'm a big fan of westerns, and Gunsmoke was one of the best. I'm saddened to hear of the death of James Arness (Matt Dillon).

Thanked: 13249RIP...
That just brought back a flood of memories, all good too, I remember from 1963-1966 we were in Naples Italy, and the only show to air on the TV in English was "Gunsmoke" I was knee high to a grasshopper but became a life long fan of the show...

Ah, so many memories..
I'm never gonna forget him in Gunsmoke. And even more so as Zebulon Macahan in How the west was won.

Um, all of them, any of them that have been in front of me over all these years....

When the show first came out I loved it. Black and white, a half an hour long. It began with him either walking along or standing with his foot on a tombstone overlooking the town. Some episodes were one way and some the other. He would say,"This here's boot hill ....." He had a good run and we all gotta go sometime. R.I.P. Mr. Dillon.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
