Outrageous because it suggests that somehow America needs it's elections monitored like its some kind of banana republic trying to throw a dictator out of power. There were problems, but they were mostly due to stupidity (both on the part of the government and the voters), not any sort of corruption or election rigging that needs to be "monitored".

It may be my inherent American arrogance, but if I were the State Department, I would have diplomatically told the EU where it could stick its observers.

Randy suggested we all get out and vote tomorrow. That's cool. He didn't make a referendum for either party, which was also cool. Vote for whoever you want that you think will do a good job... either party.

Bill, I wasn't trying to insult the president or the military with this comment. Just pointing out the fact that there WAS a voting controversy in a very narrow presidential race.
There was an obvious flaw in the voting process, which is an affront to democracy. As an American I would have thought that you were pro-democratic (referring to the system, not the party) and thus wished it to run flawlessly.

I appreciate everyone's input into this thread. As Bill noted, I did not suggest any party affiliation, or suggest any particulars. Just vote. It's a right that so many have fought for, and died for. Voice your opinion by voting. It's not about whether we agree about candidates or parties...it's about doing our civil duty as U.S. Citizens. I have a lot of co-workers who have told me "I'm not voting blah blah blah. It's my way of making a decision". I'm reminded of the great movie line..."stupid is as stupid does".

I believe theres a wise old saying that rings true here "Never discuss Politics or Religion in polite company"

To my mind this has always been a friendly society, disagreements/different points of view, yes, but always polite & friendly.

Lets agree to leave the politics to the politicians.
