I am always armed and I belong to the neighborhood Publix Watch. My zone is the bakery zone. My life/health is in danger every time I step into my zone. There has yet to be a time, when I did not have to whip out my wallet and "Take Out" an apple fritter.
My neighborhood watch commander says that if I get enough trigger time on those apple fritters; that I will be next in line for the Dunkin Donuts Zone across the parking lot !! You only get into that zone when one of the watchmen has a heart attack or the very least a triple bi-pass.
That's where the big boys play !!
I was out on Neighborhood watch on Monday night, I saw the security lights come on and immediately armed myself, looking out the upstairs window I saw a suspicious Black subject step out from behind the trees.. It was hard to see but I guessed him at 275-300 lbs, and the way he walked I could tell he could handle himself from the swagger in his step..
I waited until I saw him attempt to break in the and yelled out the upstairs window at him and he instantly jumped and ran back toward the trees and the dark, I ran out the front door to make sure he knew not to mess around our Neighborhood again and let fly with a 45-70 round above his head...
His name is "Bubba" the Black Bear and we think he might be a Gangsta :)
Now back to the topic at hand, it seems that we are getting to hear a few more facts slowly but surely, it is interesting to see the media and the media whores spin them as we get them...
I was teaching a class on Media and Ethics when the story hit. I actually made a decision to avoid the Trayvon subject even though it would have been the perfect real world example. The tensions were too high in the class so I avoided it.
I whole heartedly agree that the media has been a joke in their coverage of this. And just wait, election season is heating up and will probably throw even more feul on the fire.
Got to be an easy class to teach there are no ethics in media or anywhere else these days. But I suppose quite a class could be made out of comparing and contrast the theoretical practice of ethical media with what really happens. I for one, think the way that most of our media outlets do business is borderline criminal.
