Thread: Henckels Knife Set on Sale @ CDN Tire

I just saw a nice set of of Henckels knives for $100+tax at the CDN Tire on the Queensway. I think it will be on for the weekend. I was tempted to buy it but I'm trying to keep my spending down until I get a new job. I may wait until the sale ends and get a raincheque to buy myself some time.

From the looks of the tang, which extends through to the end of the grip (as it should on a good knife), these could be a decent set of blades.

They've got the classic, triple-rivet look to them, all right, but I've never seen that handle style on Henckels before.

This is either a really good deal, or another sad day in Henckel history, where their formally great knives have been reduced to bargain basement prices.

I grew up with Henckel knives in the home. Wooden-handled, three-riveted ones. Really nice. I own a Henckel cook's knife -- an all-stainless one that was a gift. And then, of course, there are my Henckel steak knives, my Henckel manicure scissors and my Henckel straight razor.

I've definitely witnessed a decline in quality from the older Henckel products to the newer ones, but I'm going to go check these knives out tomorrow if I can. See if they're any good.

Thanks for providing more info BW. I was there shopping for construction materials for this weekend's projects (well also some supplies that COULD be applied to razor restoration ) so I didn't have the time to check'em out.
