There is no such thing as "thinking too much." However, the opposite is quite often the case in point. Specificity is the bulwark against ignorance. Why didn't you specify "G8 minus Russia" instead of "the West" in the first place? My answer to the poll would have been different, thus affecting your results.

North America can also be perceived as the East from Asia's perspective. "Truth" rears its hoary head yet again! My Experimental Methods prof at university used to say "If you find a 'truth', step on its head and kill it before it breeds."

Offcourse that's true too. If everyone is the west...then everyone is the east too. And that means no one is in decline!

How much decline do you need to refer to it as "decline"?
If you mean irreversible decline, I say absolutely not. If you mean are we looking at a few more down years - probably.
