My company is relocating to Cleveland, Ohio. My whole family is in St. Louis, MO and so is my wife's family. I've been offered many generous move packages and turned them all down. Employees in the office have all been given their end dates (all before the end of this year). MY end date, is over a year a way and I was told that I have a place with the company as long as it is mutually beneficial. If I work through the end of the time they have specified, I will receive a "Stay put Bonus" plus severance. To me, it seems like by having a later date, them saying they will work with me to push it back in the future as long as we both agree, etc that there are a few things I need to decide.
Do I leave well enough alone and ride it out?
Ask for a raise in the mean time?
Leave now and find a different job (walk away from the money they are offering if I work through X date)?
Demand my retention package up front?
I've never been through this before, but with the amount of change in senior leadership, if they go away, I'm feeling all deals are null and void. I'd love to hear everyones thoughts. Please vote in the poll at the top of the page. Thanks
