Contrary to popular belief I feel safer in a large city than in the rural area that I grew up in. I had an interesting conversation with a truck driver at work from a small town. I asked him how many people that he knew in jail, mugged, murdered, robbed, etc. From a small town these numbers where relatively low but divided by the relatively small number of people the percentages where much larger than mine in the large city. In the large city there are many more people so these things happen more often and you see them in the news more often. If I don't do drugs, prostitutes, gamble, and stay off a few streets my odds are statistically much lower of getting in trouble.
The difference is, that in a small town...err..village, we all know exactly who we should avoid. :P Heck, we could tell you their names and addresses, the cars they drive, where they work or if they work, AND their next of kin. :) I like it here...I feel safe so long as that darned Ricky Bobby ain't on the street. If he is..Best go inside.
