Faith is never proof of anything but rather indicates the lack of proof. Having faith neither proves nor disproves the validity of what you have faith in. Faith can never be successfully argued except when preaching to the already converted. That is where it belongs, in a place of worship of your choice not stuffed down peoples throats by any government.

I had faith in a girlfriend once...
I had a girlfriend named Faith once. Not really but it sounded good.

This is about the separation of Church and State - not your church, all churches. It always saddens me when the church involved see's it as an attack on them. It's not about Christians! You guys are doing just fine in America! You get to moan about mosques being built, in the 50's you got in god we trust put on currency, and have the ear of the conservative right and get to invade woman's rights in the name of your god. Stop moaning.
Too harsh? Please! Get a grip - this is not about Christians - you have to see that!
If you can't see why a government official in the United States of America shouldn't be doing what he is - then you'll never know, or want to know. Seriously man - he represents all of Kansas!
What was I moaning about? I just asked you to explain a little better.
And I see that several people "like" your post. lol.
Don't be sad. I didn't even know I felt attacked until it made you sad.
Joe you seem like a great guy and I love reading your posts. Seriously.
When you began to imply that this all was a hate on the Christian faith I might have taken offence to that as living in KS, people say that all the time... and it's counter productive. Especially when Christians in KS truly have a monopoly on faith and have no problem stating as much.
I stand by what I said - you however can't say now that all you did was ask to "explain a little better" when you delete your posts! Be proud man! Own your statements!
Guys, let's keep thus a civil discussion.
No more shots at others' beliefs, personal attacks, or insults.

Yeah I deleted it exactly for that reason! lol
I never intended to imply anything. I promise. I'm no good at talking without inflection it seems. :)
I thought about that post, and was thinking, I bet I changed the whole meaning of the thing by putting the word Christian in there.
I was just saying that prayer isn't the answer to the worlds ills. And I do think it's a silly supposition to think that prayer would fix anything. But I don't think it's wrong to have faith in prayer. I just don't think it's purpose is to ask for relief.

Ok, well I kinda have it figured out I guess why he shouldn't make a commercial and invite people to a religious function, thanks to Cangooner. But, I still don't totally get why it's such a violation on the rest of us. We all make our own decisions about how to react to something based on the evidence presented. Our exchange being a prime example. I meant this, you read it as that, and the whole thing went south. But if instead, I had said "this" in a better way, then maybe you wouldn't have read it as "that", and your reaction, or response would have been different.
So I guess for you, it's an outright insult that a Governor would do this thing. While for me, it doesn't seem nearly as terrible as say, selling your Senate seat for supporters. One shows some faith, while the other shows a lack of morality. I just think there's worse things to be upset about I guess.
And I stil don't think he represents you all. Because if I accepted the notion that the Governor represented the people...I'd be in jail too. :p

Ok so one last ditch attempt at it then "from my point of view."
I personally think that America is a much better place than many others because we work very hard at not including religion into our politics. I stand by that belief to the point that I would die for that freedom.
Imagine how very hard it would be for you living in Saudi Arabia where they have roads for the likes of you and roads for others. With Sharia Law incorporated into their constitution, sure they have a moral back-bone but one that doesn't allow for thought and/or equality.
America is the better system - and the one that see's people flocking to its shores because of it. The only reason you go to Saudi is to make money or visit Mecca.
Religion in any higher power isn't necessary for man to have moral compass.
In other words: being in faith doesn't make bad man any better nor being without faith doesn't make good man worse.
You either have the moral compass or not.
There's a lot of bad things done in the name of (this or that) God. Of course there's a lot of good things done also.
YES!! But that's hard to understand when you are emerged in your faith. That's not a slam - it's just that it might be hard to see otherwise with your faith. Just saying.
Here is that road btw :):

I'm closing this thread down for now. It seems that the topic has been exhausted, all that's left is the potential for hurling insults at each other.
