Thanked: 47Does this make anyone else mad?
Apparently Octomom has reapplied for Welfare. Stories like this make me really upset, there are people out there who struggle living with nothing and they work hard for every penny they make. Just because she blew all the money from her Reality TV show, Porn movies and other endorsements doesn't mean she should get more of a handout.

Thanked: 55People either meet the requirements for assistance or they don't. If they do it doesn't make me "mad".
No one's life is going great if they are applying for assistance in the first place. It may or may not be an abuse of the system, who knows, but it's not on the top of my priories of things to get upset over.
Life is too short. If you are going to get upset over something I would recommend picking a bigger problem to get upset over.

Thanked: 20I guess it makes me more mad that the law allows it. Kind of like: If you know how to use the law to pay fewer taxes I'm not going to be mad at you for that. I will be mad at the tax law/code though...

Thanked: 734There will always be someone there to take advantage of a freebie. That’s the unfortunate reality. And while we debate back and forth over who should have assistance and who shouldn’t have assistance, the simple reality is that these debates are useless in controlling the problem of people abusing it. To avoid that, you have to depend on the honesty of the people who will use the assistance. And that is something that can’t be relied on. For them its an opportunity and they take it. Its like finding someone sleeping with your wife. Mad as you may be, its not really his fault since the opportunity was provided by your wife. He never made any marriage vows to you. In this case the wife is your government. They are the ones that sleep around and depend on your emotional response to blame the guy they are sleeping with. It keeps everyone fighting among themselves and stops them from making the real demands of government…..the one element responsible for most of our problems in the first place.

This money is supposed to go to her children. I don't get very angry about children being fed with my tax dollars.

Thanked: 734To an extent I do. The government is not here to feed us. I don’t know this woman’s circumstances but when I see people with a large number of children and they are on welfare, it DOES bother me that they didn’t bother to consider how they were going to care for these kids before they had them. OR, perhaps as I eluded to, they knew that we would pick up the tab through government programs. Safety nets are one thing but it should not be the concern of government to feed its citizens under normal circumstances. Creating an environment where people can trade their labor for a paycheck should be of greater concern.

Thanked: 47She has had more opportunity than 99% of people who actually need the aid. I have no problem with people getting help, we all need it from time to time, especially when it goes to children. She was on it 6 months ago and went out and did a porn and is right back on it. She has said she refuses on taking her children out of private school but will accept aid from the government. I get upset when people take advantage of programs that people actually need. Just my opinion.

If anything upsets me it's people who avoid/evade paying tax. Those at the bottom of the pile I have some sympathy for.

Also, there is no poin in getting 'mad'. If you have to get 'mad' over every single instance where someone takes advantage of some benefit or other... you'd have a lot of getting upset to do

Capitalism definitely did not fail us. It is just the nature of capitalism. When it is good it is good. When it is bad people get screwed. The government steps in to help when it gets bad. At least that is the philosophy of Keynesian economics. Sort of like an individual with bipolar disorder taking mood stabilizers. However, you have to find the right meds at the right dose which can be vexing. I think it is called a bull or a bear economy for a reason.
From their stillness came their non-action...Doing-nothing was accompanied by the feeling of satisfaction, anxieties and troubles find no place
