I can not donate anything due to some life style choice I had in my past, not blood, plasma, organs anything. This also disqualifies my wife from giving too. It makes me quite mad, especially because my mother has brest cancer and I know how important plasma and such is. It truly breaks my heart that I am healthy and clean but I still cant do my part.
I like the though of people helping others after their life has ended so much I think this tread could as well have been posted in "The Finer Things in Life" !

i've abused my body and with luck it will be a worthless shell when i am done with it but my license, will, advance directives, medical proxy and doctors all know that they are supposed to salvage any useful parts before before planting.
when i'm done i will no longer care about this carcass.

i am a organ donor ( when im gone i dont need them anymore so let them be my last shot at helping save a life,) and ive donated blood once, i do it when theres a blood drive in the area.
I'm another who is unable to donate blood simply because I lived in the UK during a certain period in the 90s when CJD was doing its thing. It's a little frustrating as I'd like to, but since no one seems to know how the heck prions work, I guess it's best if I don't lie and donate. However as for my organs, when I'm done with them, anyone who can make use of them is welcome to them. :)

I was an organ donor and blood donor whilst I was living in the UK, and I plan to continue this. I didn't get asked if I wanted to be a Donor when I got my driving license, or I would be registered now.Quote:

I think donations are essential to modern medicine, I can't wait until we can grow organs!!!
In Australia I can't donate blood due to living in the uk for over a certain period of time, it's easily done when your born then live there for 20+ years!
On my drivers licence I opted to donate my organs and my wife knows my wishes. The question is whether they will take them seeing as they won't take my blood...
