What's the Weather Like?

I know we have members from all over the U.S. and world here. So what's the weather like?

Here in Jennings, LA:

The birds are singing, it's 60 deg. Fahrenheit, not a cloud in the sky --sunny and blue skies. -15 feet of snow --can almost hear the mosquitoes.

Here in Michigan it's a balmy 30F and sunny, the birds are chirping, theres only four inches of snow, and the mosquitoes are all dead!!!!:D :D


Of course for most of the day it was 20F with 15mph wind and freezing drizzle:(

"A balmy 30F" ? --that's a cold day down here. It rarely gets to the lower 20"s. I like the cold but maybe that's because I don't know what real cold is. However, I do know someone from Rhode Island who says that the winters down here are cold ---it's the humidity or maybe it's psychological ---people don't expect to be cold in South Louisiana.

It's -9 (about 10F) here in Toronto. We're finally getting nice snowboarding snow, and with my luck it's a week before I take a 2 week trip to South America where it's full-blown summer lol.

I usually prefer the temp this time of year to be in the teens with no wind and dry air its beautiful when the day is bright and crisp. Kind of like a cold water Proraso splash all day.:)
I feel colder on a wet 40 degree say than on a dry 10 degree one.

FireStart, how do you handle 10F? Is it just another winter day in Toronto or do you have to take precautions? I once experienced 13F here, about 17 years ago ---spent the morning goose hunting in an open rice field. Coooold! I don't think people here know how to dress for or handle that kind of weather --------80% humidity and 100F, no problem ----but that's cold.

Here in Brisbane, Australia, it's a tepid 30 C with a relative humidity of about 99%. Chance of rain and late thunderstorms (hopefully). Freshening north to north-west winds easing on the coast (made that last one up - sounds professional, though).

And, last night about 20 minutes up the road at a place called Laidley there was a mini tornado - rare-ish in this part of the world.

Jimbo, we can get tornadoes here in Louisiana. Believe it or not, the winter months can cause some of the worse ones. When those cold and warm fronts meet ---watch out.

10F is really not that bad for Ontario. I've lived up north, had a snow shovelling job to help with the residence (dorm) fees and cover the textbooks. The residence was at the highest point on campus, at the top of a wind-blown hill and it got below -40 (either scale) up there. Took a lot of moonshine to get me through that job.
As long as I'm not spending much time outside on the plus side of the Fahrenheit scale, jeans, jeans, skateboarding shoes, light gloves, a snowboarding jacket and a light touque are enough. Once it starts getting toward the -40 range, I have to worry about heavier gloves, thicker touques, neck-warmers and long johns.

Jaegerhund, I've got no experience of tornadoes (except the movies) - I haven't heard a damage report from this place yet, but hopefully when the weather bureau prefixed the word "mini" to it, they meant it!
