5/8 restoration done cheap!
Attachment 135516Attachment 135515This is the razor I broke the tang on recently. I've got it stuck together with superglue for now; I'm not expecting it to last too long, but it works for now!
This is my second restoration attempt, and as with the first, I have basically used stuff I found lying around. The scales are some unidentified blue plastic sheet. I think it's acryllic, but wouldn't swear to it.
The wedge is a bit of green micarta looking stuff that may well find it's way into becoming a full set of scales for my next resto attempt.
I have recently found what used to be a model engineering shop, and they still had some old stock they were selling off, hence the nice brass rivets for the pins! I ran out of brass washers, which I was a little bit annoyed at, but I can always repin once I have some delivered.
Everything was polished up using a 3 wheel drill mounted buffing kit from a car shop, following some pretty intensive emery cloth work! A couple of pits in the blade were too deep to polish out, but I'm still pretty happy with it.
I Hope you enjoy looking, and please feel free to comment, both positively and negatively (as long as it's constructive!)
Iain.
