Thread: First full custom razor, Sheffield style!

I recently decided to try my hand at making a custom blade for myself, I've read lots int the workshop forum and seen some awesome razors so I built myself a little forge (thanks Bruno) and had a go.
It's made from an old Sheffield file and took some seriouse grinding on my little 150w bench grinder! I heat treated and final ground with the help of a lot of information provided from forum members and honed her up the other day, shaves brilliantly and I'm over the moon. I think I may have the bug, I've got a load of old files I keep looking at! Here's a few pics..
I scaled it in black acrylic as I didn't have any horn left and pinned with stacked brass washers and give the whole thing a good polish. It's a touch over a 9/8 full wedge. I think my next razor will have a different shoulder/ tang profile. I'm happy with the way it turned out though.
