Second razor attempt..... The other half of the file!
Well I have just finished making my second razor, out of the other half of the crucible Sheffield file. I have a new old belt sander that I used to hollow grind the blade. I don't know the precise grind but I would ball park it at a quarter hollow. I have tested it on my 1k and it took a bevel well and nice and even and the steel feels great. I had to re temper the blade as the steel was too brittle after the initial tempering. It's the same Sheffield theme, I thought I owed it the file and I love old Sheffield razors. I attempted jimps along the top half of the tang right to the tail end, I thought they looked a little different. It measures a hefty 10/8 and spine thickness is 1/4 inch. I thought it would end up a lot heavier than it did but the grinding made a bigger difference in weight than I thought it would. I scaled it in horn with a camel bone wedge and finished in stacked brass washers.(again!!) I thought it looked classic. Anyway, enough of me waffling, here's some pics....

Thanks for the great comments, it's really encouraging, and yes, I am shaving with them, honed the above razor a few nights ago and I was astounded at how good it shaved. I don't think I've got much confidence in my own work yet so when it took nearly a full side of whiskers off in one pass I was very happy indeed! Like a silent assassin, no noise and just the weight of the blade took care of 4 days worth of beard. Great, it's straight into my rotation, and loads of fun to shave with too.

That is one impressive razor! I like the elegant simplicity of the black horn and the sheer size of the blade

Beautifully done. I really like how you kept with the traditional materials (horn and brass). Looks like a classic.
The older I get the more I realize how little I actually know.
