Thiers Issard 13/16 - Bloodwood/Copper/Brass

Here's my latest restore job. It started as a rustbucket ebay purchase that needed new scales and some light grinding due to the depth of the pitting. My photography stinks but you get the idea.

Blade is a 13/16 TI real frame back
Scales are my custom design/work in bloodwood
Wedge is burgundy linen micarta with brass liners cut to be wider at the bottom and rear
Brass washers inside and out
Copper pins

I liked the angles and curves of the blade so tried to emulate those curves on the scales (that may not have tuned out as I wanted though). While I needed to do some light grinding the blade was thick enough that it didn't affect the edge at all (thanks to Geezer for helping me figure out how to get the blade off the frame). The wedge was cut from scrap linen micarta and the brass liners were attached using epoxy. Once assembled and ready for finish I applied a few layers of bee's wax and then about 5 applications of Renaissance Wax. Didn't really need acrylic or epoxy covering on the bloodwood (tell me if I'm off base on that point please).

You can't see the copper peening results in the photos but they really match up well with the bloodwood. Sorry 'bout the light blooms in the pix, I'm no photographer! All said, it wasn't too tough a restore - and the shave is well worth the effort - so much so that I may not let it go... we'll see.
