Good start. How high a grit are you planning on taking them?
-
Coming along nicely! Looking forward to the final product!
-
All the way to 12,000 ... Thats the plan! Lets see! By hand it gets rough so i am taking my time!
-
Looking good so far. Looking forward to seeing it finished.

Thanks guys! I am debating on reusing the scales! The Boker seem to have bone scales... I sand them a bit and turns out they are greenish! And they stank so bad as i was sanding them! Lol! The Hunter razor has plastic ones and they are nothing special! I might go with new scales for that one

Ok so today i played with the scales of the boker! Here is a finished and unfinished comparison! So i am reusing them! I am so stoked about these razors!!!Attachment 145709

Looks like they cleaned up great, glad you can reuse them.
-
This is my first go at cleaning scales! They were nasty! They were black in color and had all kinds of crud! They smell bad! Lol! Toothbrush and toothpaste and boom! They were clean and brown! Lol! I was like wtf!? Then i buffered them with my buffing wheel and the white buffing compound and the are looking decent now!

Finished product! I reused the scales!!
They are shave rdy and all! The Boker could have use some more sanding but my hands were hurting and i didnt wanna thin it out too much! They are nothing compared to some of the restores you guys have here but i am happy with them!

They look great. Good job on saving saving the scales.
-
Thanks! I was resilient in reusing them ... But after i sanded the black ones and noticed that they were dark brown and bone... I was like hell yeah! A little buffing and boom shinny again!
-
Don't knock an "easy" restore. They look great!
-
Thanks! They must be carbon cus i was able to get a great edge pretty quick
-
They look great, I am trying to find a good cheap razor to do my first restore. This defiantly makes me want to get one sooner than later. :beer1:

I was lucky with both! The boker i got at a vintage store here in town and the hunter i got on ebay... I did everything by hand except at the end i got a craftsman's buffing wheel from sears that attaches to my drill and it comes with their white buffing compound... But everything else was by hand... From 280 grit to 12000
