Ok fellas,
So my last post was the birdseye dubl duck and I mentioned I had another one for the same member almost done. well, here it is! He originally sent me a red imp with the idea of red g10 scales that were "pretty out there and with the cut out like Brad does." So, thanks Brad Maggard for the idea. Well, the imp was beyond saving, and I felt kinda bad so I had this 9/16 I was going to give to myself I had originally modified the barber's notch due to corrosion that had made it all the way through the back part of the notch, so instead of leaving this knarly spot that was only going to collect moisture, I took some small diamond files and enlarged the notch about 1/32". No, the blade doesn't flex much at all, and should take a nice edge as well. The scale color and concept in my head I got a little creative with it; thinking being able to see a black wedge through the red with a pretty unusual cut out would be cool, so I measured halfway between the pins and back to the point of the end of the wedge drilled an 11/64" hole, and used a 3/8" 18tpi blade on my band saw and cut in the notch; next, it was all hand filing then wrapping the files in sandpaper up to 1500k grit. The wedge was actually the harder part trying to sand up to 1500 w/out changing the way the wedge sat flat against the inside of the scales. All hardware is stainless w/ NiAg pins; time to hone this thing up and test it out! So, thanks for looking everyone, and have a Merry Christmas if we don't message again for a bit!
