Hush! Hush! Thats purple men! Nice work, who made the blade?
Nice-I like the swirly figure and the color!
Nice job! I like the purple heart, nice pin job.
Very nice. That purpleheart looks fantastic.
Very smooth and very clean lines!! Awesome!!

Well done! The purpleheart looks very sharp.
How was working with the purpleheart? Is it an easy wood to work with?
Thanks guys!
I wanted to see what I could do with one of those Gold Dollars people talk about. Some grinding, a bit of sanding, a new set of, scales with a couple coats of CA and here ya have it!
Put it to the stones again (checked for good bevel first) gave it a test shave and I am pretty impressed so far. DFS out of it. I might have a TINY heel hook I will have to fix but other than that it is not bad at all!
A small tip for you, try wedges instead of spacers .
Spacers cause the scales to bow in after time, wedges do not.
A very nice job on the GD! Pretty expensive though, I get mine for $4 ";"
Nice Job!
I had a couple GDs a while back. The steel isn't that bad mostly bad grinding and the bevel was terrible. After replacing the scales, doing some grinding work on the shoulder and heel then completely re-setting the bevel they didn't shave bad.
For the money if you don't mind doing some work they can be decent inexpensive shavers.
nice work. wait til the purpleheart oxidizes, it turns a gorgeous purple brown with some black graining.
Chev that's a pretty result! I have a small pile of GDs here just awaiting some inspiration before I grind them into interesting lines and practice spine work. I'm curious how long the steel holds the edge though. Let us know how it is after about 15 or 20 shaves - at the risk of rekindling the "GDs are the seed of Satan" debate, it may be useful to know how long they actually hold an edge on average.
Didn't know about the purpleheart oxidizing - how long does that take Tiddle? Chev if you notice the wood starting to change color please post some pix, I don't think I've seen that before. The lines in purpleheart are interesting but the intensity of the purple is not my cup-o-tea. If they turn more brown that could be interesting!
I like that purple, looks good. I think you did a great job.
Cool project buddy :<0) Purple is not one of my favs but I am not against any color. Equal rights for all :D
One of My brushes is in Classifieds, thats fresh cut PH,You can oxidize the oils with a heat source (propane tourch) and make it darker or set it in bright sun for a week,or use a UV light source.
Not sure of the time but it will , as someone said, turn brown and look like Walnut. I have some GDs I built that need little attention besides the stropping and they just keep cutting.
it varies, but you can speed it up by placing it out in the sun for a few days.
Pretty timber. Like the TI look.
I'd radius some more off that heel tho. :)
Never thought about liking purple for my razors but that looks sexy! Great job
Well here is updated pictures.
It has been 4+ months, not sure if there was any noticeable difference in color:

Maybe sealing them with the CA kept them from oxidizing? I dunno, anyway, I still think it's very pretty just the way it is!
