Very nice job! I really like C-Mons so am a bit biased - still a great restore though!
To those of you with these blades, was yours a bear to hone too? I took a lot of work to get a bevel.
I don't have a blackie, but some of my C-Mon razors were a bit cranky. I thought it was me, but perhaps you are onto something.
Tried for awhile with one piece of tape. No dice, close but not quite there. Went to 2 and finally got a usable edge. Flattening the stones around the same time may have helped also.
Have a C-Mon Cadillac and it's a breeze to hone. The others are all Blackies and they're not so quick to take a good edge. They'll hoe up nicely, but take a bit more time. The Cadillac is around 6/8 and the others are 5/8 or 11/16 - so maybe it's a function of the width - or more accurately the angle of the bevel. As you found, one piece of tape on a Blackies doesn't seem to be enough, two works better for me on them.
And as always a good lapping of the stones before honing is always a good thing!
Very nice save on this one!
As to the domed washers I too have a divot in my hammer head. To dome the washer though I simply rounded the end of a large (12d) nail to create the punch.Be sure to back these up with some smaller washers or they will flatten out when peening.
Awesome restore!!
A great addition to your collection!!
