Oak crotch is what the wood was sold as, no double entendre here. Brass lined and CA finished.

These scales have been resurrected:

Thanks to those who encouraged me to repair them. CA did the job. These scales seem to be cursed, not only were they broken but it took three tries to get the brass to stick properly and it took drilling a dozen holes in the brass to do it (yes I've peeled the brass off three times and the ca held through it twice). I've also had to unpin all three holes once and the spacer end twice to get it together properly (each time I really thought it was good to go). I mounted the spacer upside down the first time, put a domed washer on upside down another and didn't get the tang straightened out enough the first time through (three screwdrivers and a vice). Just when I thought I was done I realized I had not installed washers inside at the pivot. I still have to unpin it there and install them, there is too much friction when the razor is fully opened.
Tomorrow is a new day .
