Hi,

Let me show you, freshly restored, three different Bengall straight razors.

1. Bengall Cast Steel, apparently the oldest one.
Width 6/8, wedge type, original horn scales.
Lead spacer, new nickelsilver pins.











2. Bengall T.R. Cadman & Sons
11/16", wegde type, new Ebony scales.










3. Bengall made in Sweden by the company
Borlänge Maskinaffär. 9/16", 1/2 Hollow Ground.
New scales in Padauk wood, nickelsilver pins and spacer.

are those padaouk scales CA finished? a bit offtopic but did anyone try the oil finish with padaouk, or is the wood too fragile for that kind of finish on scales

I haven't found it fragile, but I'm only using it for razor scales not a hammer handle or something

It doesn't seem too fragile, but the wood is very porous so the CA finish
fills very well the pores and allows to obtain an even and smooth surface.

Another thing about padauk is how very light it is, so much so that it would lead you to believe it more fragile than it is.

..the padouk that I have was a little more fragile bristle when eg dremeling material off than the other woods I used, I like the wood the color (and the smell when working ) and have been thinking of using it for scales, later on I found roxinho to be of similar color but much harder, so I went with it 1 time... thanks for the info

Yes, it it is related to and smells like sandalwood when I cut it on the table saw but not so much when sanding.
