Old Frenchie
Just finished this old stub tail. Don't know much about it. The tang is stamped with a crown and looks like WOL and the beginning of another letter. I got it with some very poor condition tortoise shell scales. I cleaned off the crusty stuff and left the rest of the age on the old man. New scales in faux Tortoise and bone wedge. Making the 1/4" dome washers took the longest but was fun...Attachment 162790Attachment 162791Attachment 162792Attachment 162793

Pretty sure this could be a "Wolf" acier fondu, wicth would make this razor from Sheffield! A trademark used by John Shepherd 1770-1795.

That would fit. The missing letter has a vertical left edge...

And by the way you did a nice job on the scales and washers, pretty cool to have a razor that old that you can use.

Martin is spot on on all accounts....Shepherd...and a very nice job on this razor. Love it!

Very cool razor, nice job!!

Where did you get the faux Tortoise scale material?

That is Masecraft's "East Tortoise." They also have "West" that is a little darker overall.
