I will definitely give this a shot! Patience and a meticulous nature are a couple of my defining traits. Now I just need to look around the house for magnification other than the 60x lighted loupe I use for honing... I can't see that being very comfortable to use during the cutout step.

I need to reinforce the "Hollow Ground" etch on the ERN I rescued from the antique mall. Other efforts made to this blade included rust removal chronicled in the following thread of mine: http://straightrazorpalace.com/works...po-rust-4.html

While I was scouring the interwebz for local businesses that would sell the etchant solution, I came across the Instructable linked below. They use muriatic acid + hydrogen peroxide (plus some coper...? Necessary component, since I'm not doing PCB boards??) for an etchant that can be reused and refreshed with either of the two primary ingredients as needed, with no real need to dispose of it. I'm by far less of a chemist than the author of that Instructable, so I still haven't decided which direction to go. It depends on weighing the safety vs. versatility of the etchant, as the wife would also like to use likewise techniques on her crafting.

And the acid is readily available at any number of big box stores around town!...
